We’ll enjoy a shared meal before discussing the book. October’s book is I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou. Written in 1969, this is an autobiographical fiction describing the young and early years of American writer and poet Maya Angelou. Character strength and the love for literature are themes in this coming-of-age story illustrating efforts to overcome trauma and racism.
