Perserving Our History-Harold Wadley

December 12, 2024 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Preserving Our History: recorded interview with Harold Wadley (in person at the Library and via Zoom).

Join the Library and the Sawtooth Interpretive and Historical Association (SIHA) for an evening of history.  We’ll watch an edited recording of an interview and learn some fun facts about Stanley in the days gone by!

Harold Wadley first came to the Stanley in the winter of 1960/61 as the Forest Service Ranger, living at the Valley Creek Ranger Station with his wife Gwen and first one and then two sons. As a veteran of the Korean War, Harold was no stranger to cold winters and life in Stanley was a dream come true. Join us to hear stories from the 7 years he spent serving the community. Recorded in 2011.

As the keeper and teller of stories of the Sawtooth Salmon River Country, SIHA maintains an archive of oral histories and continues to acquire more. These interviews teach us about the colorful and influential individuals who shaped our community and the landscape. SIHA is working to make these valuable resources publicly available and is excited to share them!

If you have knowledge of the Sawtooth-Salmon River Country in the early days or know of someone who does, please contact SIHA at: [email protected].
