Doerr at Community Library
We’re big fans of Idaho author Anthony Doerr, so when we saw that he’s speaking about his latest book at the Community Library in Ketchum on Friday, January 14, we thought you might want to attend the virtual event. Cloud Cuckoo Land was shortlisted for the National Book Award and our library’s copy has already been checked out numerous times. For more information about the Community Library’s event, click here.
Book Club
Book Club will meet at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, January 20 to discuss Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge and the Teachings of Plants. As a botanist, Robin Wall Kimmerer has been trained to ask questions of nature with the tools of science. As a member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation, she embraces the notion that plants and animals are our oldest teachers. In Braiding Sweetgrass, Kimmerer brings these two lenses of knowledge together.
The Stanley Library is joining The Community Library in Ketchum for the 2022 Winter Read, a community-wide program to promote literacy and civil discourse by inviting everyone to read a book and talk about it. This year’s selection is A River Runs Through It by Norman Maclean. Throughout the Winter Read we will explore this text and our relationships to our rivers through a series of discussions and virtual programs. Copies of the book are available at the library, with our discussion scheduled for Wednesday, February 16. The Community Library will host a virtual kickoff event on Monday, January 31, at 6:00 p.m. For more information click here.
