Tonight: Reading Challenge Discussion

Tuesday, May 16, 5:30 pm
Community Room and via Zoom

Our Reading Challenge group will meet to discuss the books we’ve been reading for this year’s Challenge: 12 Books Recommended by 12 Friends. Everyone is welcome to come talk about books, whether or not you’re doing the challenge.

Idaho Writer in Residence

Wednesday, May 17, 5:30 pm (Reading starts at 6:30 pm)
Community Room

Come enjoy refreshments, meet Idaho Writer in Residence CMarie Fuhrman, and learn about her Arts Idaho IdaPost pen pal writing project, which has helped participants investigate place through story. CMarie will read from her own work starting at 6:30 p.m. She is the author of the collection of poems, Camped Beneath the Dam, and co-editor of two anthologies, Cascadia Field Guide: Art, Ecology, and Poetry and Native Voices: Indigenous Poetry, Craft, and Conversations. She tells stories from the outdoors on her weekly podcast, Terra Firma.

Volunteer Opportunity

We recently heard about an exciting opportunity to change a life without leaving home. ENGin, a US/Ukraine-based nonprofit, urgently needs volunteers to practice English online with Ukrainian youth.

Volunteering with ENGin is a unique, flexible opportunity to connect 1-on-1 with a Ukrainian in need and help them break the language barrier. ENGin provides all training and materials.

  • No prior experience or knowledge of Ukrainian is required
  • 1 hour/week commitment (you pick the day/time)
  • Minimum 10-12 weeks
