Oral History Presentation: Tom Kovalicky

March 27 @ 5:00 pm

Join the Library and the Sawtooth Interpretive and Historical Association (SIHA) for an evening of history.  We’ll watch an edited recording of an interview and learn some fun facts about Stanley in the days gone by!

Tom Kovalicky was appointed Stanley District Ranger in 1970.  With the passage of the Sawtooth National Recreation Area (SNRA) Act in 1972, he became the Assistant Superintendent, leading the region through the development of the SNRA.  The intervew was recorded in 2008 and recalls life as a Ranger.  Join us in person at the Library or on Zoom.

As the keeper and teller of stories of the Sawtooth Salmon River Country, SIHA maintains an archive of oral histories and continues to acquire more. These interviews teach us about the colorful and influential individuals who shaped our community and the landscape. SIHA is working to make these valuable resources publicly available and is excited to share them!

If you have knowledge of the Sawtooth-Salmon River Country in the early days or know of someone who does, please contact SIHA at: [email protected].  Find more information at Preserving the past. Protecting the future (discoversawtooth.org).
